There was a small surprise when fourth ranked LatvianVEF Riga (1-4) defeated at home second-ranked Hungarian Szolnok (2-3) 76-62 on Wednesday. VEF Riga outrebounded Szolnok 45-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by Puerto Rican center Arnaldo Barea (203-1997, college: St.John's) who scored that evening 9 points and 18 rebounds and Latvian Kristaps Kilps (195-2001) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds by American power forward Brady Skeens (202-1995, college: Washburn, agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Szolnok . His fellow American import Auston Barnes (203-1991, college: Bradley) added 17 points for the guests. Despite that victory VEF Riga went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 6 other teams. Defending Hungarian champion Szolnok keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 8 other teams.
